Team SkrewALS
Join Team SkrewALS and Make a Difference in the Fight Against ALS!
CDI is honored to partner with Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey for the fourth consecutive year in support of ALS United Connecticut. Our connection to ALS is deeply personal, as we have seen the immense challenges caused by this disease and the remarkable support provided by ALS United to families affected by ALS.
Over the past three years, we have raised over $11,700 to support research and local families dealing with ALS. Your support is crucial in continuing this vital work. Let's make a difference in the fight against ALS in Connecticut.
In Memory of Our Associates
At CDI, this cause is especially close to our hearts. We walk in memory of our beloved associates, Tim Considine and Jay Rice, who both passed away from ALS.
Tim Considine:
- Sales Rep, Field Sales Manager, Division Sales Manager
- 26 ½ Year Tenured Associate
- Diagnosed with ALS in February 2012 and passed away on October 12, 2012
Jay Rice:
- Driver, Facilities Assistant
- 12-Year Tenured Associate
- Diagnosed with ALS in March 2014 and passed away on August 9, 2017
Tim and Jay were integral to CDI. When Tim was a Sales Representative, Jay was his Driver. CDI associates supported Tim and Jay throughout their illnesses and are committed to keeping their legacies alive. One of our Sales Divisions is named the "Considine" division in honor of Tim. We are proud that Tim’s younger son, Brian, has joined CDI as a Sales Representative, following in his father's footsteps, and Brian works in the Considine division.
Brian’s Story:
Brian witnessed firsthand the care his father received from the ALS CT Chapter. He reflects:
"As I look back to 12 years ago during the most challenging 8 months of our lives, I will forever be grateful to the ALS United CT Chapter. The assistance provided by the Chapter made a significant impact. From answering our questions to providing financial assistance for home modifications, the Chapter was there for us. They loaned equipment, offered temporary vehicle assistance, and provided in-home social work for our family. Local support groups and financial assistance for my brothers’ day camps were invaluable. The ALS United CT Chapter, along with CDI and Pernod Ricard, provided us with a sense of normalcy and comfort during a difficult time. We are grateful for the unwavering support from these communities, which helped us navigate one of the toughest times in our lives "

About SkrewALS:
Maura Tancredi, CDI’s Vice President of Human Resources, joined the ALS CT Board of Directors in 2015. In 2019, CDI acquired the selling rights to Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey. The connection between Skrewball, Lou Gehrig (after whom ALS is named), and Connecticut inspired the "SkrewALS" concept. Lou Gehrig was struck out with a screwball pitch in the 1934 All-Star Game. His mother lived in Milford, CT, where there is a Lou Gehrig Little League Team, and a field named after him.
About ALS
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a devastating neurodegenerative disease with an average life expectancy of 3-5 years post-diagnosis. It progressively robs individuals of their ability to walk, talk, move, and eventually breathe. With no known cause or cure, ALS disproportionately affects veterans, who are twice as likely to be diagnosed. Currently, 295 people in Connecticut are living with ALS. The ALS Association advances global research, advocacy, and public policy and provides comprehensive local care services through the Connecticut Chapter.
