DC3's Wise & Warmhearted Walking Wanderers #2
Hello family and friends,
Welcome to our team fundraising page as we work together to raise awareness and donations to help fight ALS! We are participating in ALS United Connecticut's Walk ALS on SATURDAY OCTOBER 19TH @ Sherwood Island State Park in Wesport, CT at 10:00 AM (Walk starts at 11am) to raise funds to support people in our local community with ALS and spread awareness.
As most of you know, Doug / Popcam / DC3 / The Success Coach / Soupie (or whatever you prefer to call him) was diagnosed with ALS 2.5 years ago. He has been fighting it hard ever since with diet, PT, medicine, research, support care, and body and breathing exercises. Although it has at this point made him wheelchair bound at this point and in need of a full-time caretaker, he is as positive, motivated, and sharp as ever. He loves his regular visits from friends and business connections and loves his time with his grandkids and watching sports with all of us (Go Michigan, UCONN basketball, Celtics, USA in the Olympics, etc)!
Last Fall 2023, we did the ALS Rhode Island walk, mostly with family, as it was the day after a family wedding in Matunuck, RI. This year, we are hoping to support the ALS United Connecticut Walk at the incredibly beautiful and closest to home of all the walks location of Sherwood Island in Wesport, CT.
Please consider joining our team in the Walk ALS on Oct 6th or choose a team member from the list and donate to our cause. ALS United CT has been very supportive the last few years with equipment, knowledge, support meetings, and more. We would love to give back.
Lastly, this year is the 10th Anniversary of the legendary and impactful viral pheonomenom known as the "Ice Bucket Challenge". Many of us did fun videos and raised donations - way before our Dad was diagnosed. The ALS Association is running it back with #IceBucket10 and encouraging everyone to do a new video and help us keep the fight going... with lots of ice. See here for more and watch Colin's IceBucket10 video here.
Help us move a cure for ALS over the finish line by donating today. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by ALS.
Thank you for your support!

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ALS...
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone regardless of age, gender, nationality, or ethnicity, although it is primarily an adult-onset disease. Currently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need.
