I'm participating in ALS United Connecticut's Walk ALS to raise funds that will support individuals and families affected by ALS like my friend Rose and her extraordinary family.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe.  Currently there is no known cause or cure.

Rose continues to be the fiercely loving force of nature who I’ve known and loved for 39 years, and the loss of her voice and strength has affected her deeply, challenging in many ways her life work of bringing justice, peace, and understanding to the world. She continues to bring together family, friends, and community as much as she can, and we love her for it.

ASL United Connecticut has been a tremendous resource for Rose and her family, including providing van rentals, rides to medical appointments, and adaptive technology.  Please consider supporting ALS United.
