Amazing Shel's Belles

Welcome to our team page!

On December 7, 2004 my sister Shelly succumbed to ALS after living with the disease for years. She faced each day with courage and tried to keep her sense of humor. Her motto was "Do what I can for as long as I can".

ALS United Connecticut is near and dear to my heart.  ALS United has been helpful to her, her husband and to my family. The cost of prescriptions, medical supplies, and all the other things she needed was ridiculous!

I think it is important for you to know THERE IS NO CURE YET for this devastating disease.

By joining our team, The Amazing Shel’s Belles, and raising money for the ALS walk in September is a great way to help. Please share the link with others so they can join or donate.

We are also planning a Tapas and Tunes benefit on Sunday June August 29, 2025 from 1-5 at The Sports Bar, North Windham CT. Tickets are $25 and we will have food, raffles and music.  All proceeds will go to ALS United Connecticut.

Some information about ALS:

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe.  The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.  ALS can strike anyone regardless of age, gender, nationality, or ethnicity, although it is primarily an adult-onset disease.  Currently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need.
