My Mission NOW AND FOREVER:

After the loss of my wife Camille on July 15,2017 to ALS , I have found  unrelenting strength and purpose over these past 6+ years  to support the ALS  United CT ‘s efforts in any way I possibly can!

To this day I continue to experience firsthand this special group of individuals at ALS United of Connecticut. I won’t mention names in fear of leaving someone special out! The staff is truly dedicated and will never say no to requests! They find a way to help anyone that has a need in the struggle to cope with ALS all with a soothing smile!

The ALS CT Chapter helped me with special equipment, voice recognition communication devices, as well as referrals that were invaluable to us during this stressful time.  I can’t tell you how many times, I reached out to all these organizations , at all hours of the day or night  and there was always help available. This team of special people would even respond to me while on vacations!

Since our first walk we have now raised over $296,000!!! Wow what an accomplishment and keeps me driving to do more!

I want to help those fighting this terrible disease and to hope and pray that new research can find a cure for those still living with this disease. In 2024, I have seen some hopeful progress in research and trial tests.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart and in Camille’s memory, for your support in helping me succeed in my mission!

Sincerely, Craig Markleski

Camille’s story:

Camille spent 30+ years as a dental hygienist in DrVandlik’s East Haven Dental Care practice. She loved caring for her patients and enjoyed her fellow workers.  Then, early last year after two months of doctor visits and tests Camille was diagnosed with ALS on Valentine’s Day of 2017. We were devastated and felt lost.

I learned from all these professionals to care for Camille by teaching me safe personal care, and trained me on the use of  Bipap , cough and tube feeding equipment. Believe me I was by no means a natural at it!  The patience this assembled team, and soon to be extended family, was truly amazing.
