Thanks for visiting my page.  I'm participating in ALS United Connecticut's Walk ALS to raise funds that will support individuals and families affected by ALS.

My father-in-law, Mike Pocius, was diagnosed with ALS in October 2023. He first noticed muscle weakness and atrophy in his right leg around March of 2023. After numerous appointments with neuromuscular specialists and months of infusion therapy with no success, his doctor gave the devastating ALS diagnosis.

Unfortunately, Mike lost his battle with ALS in November 2024. This year, we walk in his memory.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of it's ability to walk, speak, swallow, and breathe. Currently there is no known cause or cure.

We would not have been able to navigate this terrible disease. Without the help of the ALS foundation. In my 10 years in the medical field both military and civilian side. I have tried to help people get in contact with resources like the ALS foundation. At best these resources are hard to navigate and only help in a very limited way. I was absolutely blown away by the ALS foundation how fast they responded. How many resources they had and how they were able to help in every facit of the care needed for someone. Equipment, transportation, insurance forms, every question we had they had an aswer to. They are an amazing organization that needs help and support.

Please consider donating to our cause. Your donation will help fund resources and services to the local ALS community, help find new ALS treatments, and move us closer to a world without the disease.

You can make a donation directly from this page. If you are interested in walking with us at Lighthouse Point in New Haven on October 5th, you can register through the link below:

Please feel free to send this page to any friend or family member who might be interested in donating!

Thank you,

Joe
