Welcome to My Fund-Raising Page
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I'm participating in ALS United Connecticut's Walk in memory of Gilman - my late husband, my best friend, a great dad and brother to his family....to raise funds that will support other individuals and families affected by ALS. ALS United was there for Gil and I immediately - ordering necessary medical equipment the first time I called them. They facilitated the rental of a stair-glider so we could get to a doctor's appointment. Our family always believed in educating oneself when confronting a challenge, to be positive, and persevere. We did, however we lost a great man to this horrific disease. Please be generous...
Some facts: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of it's ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. Gilman had approximately 8 months; from his diagnosis...6 weeks. ALS can strike anyone regardless of age, gender, nationality, or ethnicity, although it is primarily an adult-onset disease. The Veterans Association considers it a "Serviceman's Disease". Again,...no rhyme or reason known yet. There is no known cause or cure yet.
Being a part of ALS United Connecticut's Walk ALS is the number one way to unite and fundraise for those living with ALS, to help fund resources and services to the local ALS community, help find new ALS treatments, and move us closer to a world without the disease.
. Please consider supporting my efforts by donating through my fundraising page.
Please feel free to send this page to any friend or family member who might be interested in donating!
Thank you - our family thanks you and so will others who might need the timely support of ALS United.
Sincerely, Connie O. Gauvin
